The Relationship between Psychological Capital and sports Participation in High School Students
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of psychological capital on student sports participation.
The present research method was a descriptive correlation and applied in terms of type. The statistical population included high school students of the second year of Dehloran city in the academic year of 2018-19, which according to Morgan table, 360 people were selected as the sample size and random sampling method. The instruments used were the Luthans Psychological Capital Questionnaire (2007) and the Gil Sports Participation Motivation Questionnaire (1983), the validity of which was obtained by the formal method and its reliability based on Cronbach's alpha of 0.86. Data analysis was performed using structural equations with Amos software.
Data analysis showed that the average psychological capital is 3.88 and the sports participation is 3.9, which is in the average. The correlation results showed a positive and significant relationship between all dimensions of the two variables. Also, the results of structural equations with Amos software indicated that psychological capital could predict sports participation at the level of R2 = 0.64 and P <0.01. Given that the standard coefficient of the relationship is equal to 0.64 and significant, so the variable of psychological capital had a positive effect on sports participation.
The consequences of athletic health and students' physical engagement play a significant role in an age where cyberspace has overshadowed all areas of life.
