Effectiveness of compassion-focused therapy on improving quality of life and increasing the resilience of caregivers of dementia patients
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of compassion-focused therapy on improving quality of life and increasing the resilience of caregivers of dementia patients. The present study was a quasi-experimental, pre-test and post-test with control group. The statistical population of the study included all caregivers of dementia patients in Isfahan city which were selected by 30 caregivers of dementia patients in the memory clinic of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. They were randomly divided into two experimental and control groups. Research instruments were quality of life and resiliency questionnaires that were completed in two stages of pre-test and post-test by two groups of experiment and control. And the only experimental group was focused on compassion and received an irreconcilable control group to prevent the disturbed. Data were analyzed using SPSS21 and multivariate analysis of covariance. The results showed that the experimental group showed a significant increase in resilience and three components of quality of life (general health, emotional well-being and energy) were treated. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that focused therapy on compassion is an important factor in improving the quality of life and increasing the resilience of caregivers of patients with dementia.
