Abstract:
One of the wide range of processes that cause huge loss of life every year in many parts of Iran and worldwide is flooding. Identifying areas prone to flooding through hazard zoning is one of the effective and necessary measures to reduce and manage potential hazards. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate flood occurrence in Jinnah city using the support vector machine model. Initially, the DEM map of the study area was prepared and then the data were randomly divided into 70 to 30 models to construct the model and validate it. Validation and validation were evaluated by eight slope factors, slope direction, road distance, solar radiation intensity, land use, longitudinal slope curvature, slope curvature, elevation, distance from river. The results show that SVM model performs well for flood assessment in the study area and the results of this study can be useful for land use planning, flood hazard reduction and decision making in susceptible areas.
