Abstract:
When women delay their first child and the child's age rises first, fertility rates decrease due to the reduction in the length of pregnancy and the risks of pregnancy at older ages. Although many studies have looked at the reasons for postpartum childbirth, few studies examined the implications of this pattern of childbearing in women. The present study is a qualitative research that aims to study the implications of childbearing postponement in Iranian women. In this regard, using technique of deep interviewing, we study the consequences of postponement of childbearing in 30 married women in Ahvaz city. Based on the results, it can be said that the delay in childbearing as one of the new patterns of fertility in our society, such as the decision to fertilize, although occurring at the micro level and between couples, is also influenced by the micro and macro communities it should be. Depending on the analysis of deep interviews, the consequences of childbearing delay can be categorized into three major categories: Mediator of goals, disruption of inter / generational relationships and disruption of fertility and natural childbearing.
