An Analysis of Ashura Rising with Reference to the Qur'anic Verses

Abstract:
Imam Hussein's movement has been considered from different perspectives. As  Imam Hussein declares the basis of his rising is inviting people to the Qur'an and the Prophet's Sunnah of, it is vital to investigate the Qur'anic dimension of this movement. The problem this article is to study is that which verses of the Qur'an Imam Hussein (AS) has referred the people to so that they may know his movement? Therefore, the present article intends to examine the historical citations and analyze them with using the Quranic verses, to examine Imam Hussein's citations to Quranic verses during the Ashura rising. The findings of the research indicate that Imam Hussein could provide a complete interpretation of the Qur'an based on some Quranic verses in various situations from the societies' situation, the principles, goals and features of Ashura rising and from the situation of the enemy's army.  Reviewing Imam Hussein's epic from the Qur'anic perspective will bring the Islamic Ummah back to the Qur'an and introduce the teachings of the Qur'an into the lives of Muslims.
