Abstract:

In the Safavid period, there are hundreds of prominent poets who, in addition to composing ghazals, also composed historical poems in the form of qaside or other forms and even tarji'band. Some of those poems contain historical events such as conquests, and others include poems praising kings and others while implicitly or explicitly referred to historical events. In the following article, the author has reviewed Hafzi Baghdadi's poems, one of the poets who lived during the reign of Shah Abbas I. Regarding this, he, first of all, presents some information including Bāstāni Rad's explanation about Hafzi and his collection of poems. Following this, he writes Hafzi's poem about his father, and talks about his beliefs such as his belief in Mahdism and a poem about this. Then, he presents some of Hafzi's poems in praise of Shah Abbas I, which are mentioned in his divan, to the readers. Finally, he concludes the article by presenting some of Mashreqi Shirazi's poems in praise of Shah Abbas.
