Designing and validating a balanced development model of competencies of department heads in Tehran geographical area

Abstract:
The purpose of the present study was to design and validate the competency model of the managers of departments of Islamic Azad University. The purpose of the research is developmental and practical in terms of purpose, and is mixed (quantitative and qualitative).Document analysis and semi-structured interviewing were used as data collection tools for formulating components. Content analysis method was used to categorize the findings. Also, in order to fully identify the main and sub-components of competencies of managers of educational departments, 48 study units on the components of competencies of managers were randomly selected and studied. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 experts in the field of competence and managers of departments. That were purposefully selected. The results showed that the departments' competencies include three main components of managerial, social and personal competencies and 9 main components of perceptual, leadership, decision making, executive, communication, teamwork, individual management, personality traits and Are ethical characteristics. AHP method was used to rank and determine the importance of each component and sub-component. Component rank coefficients were ranked as follows: managerial competencies (leadership, 0.388; perceptual, 0.226; executive, 0.202, and decision making, 0.134), social competencies (individual management, 4.45 0% communicative, 0.24% and teamwork, 0.261), and individual competencies (personality traits, 0.703 and ethical traits, 0.229). Demetel method also measures the managerial and social competence criteria of influential components and individual competency of the criterion.
