Assessing the indicators of environmental qualities promotion in the central urban streets; case study of Ferdowsi street, Sanandaj

Nowadays, the urban living conditions and the presence of the users of urban spaces should be realized away from deterministic, statistical, and quantitative considerations, and should be based on the subjective, pluralist, and qualitative contents. In this regard, at the first point, this research tries to conclude the influential indicators of environmental qualities which have been derived from scholar opinions about the quality of the urban environment and also from the several current urban projects on a small and large scales. Hence, Ferdowsi Street in Sanandaj City has been measured as a case study based on concluded 21 indicators of environmental qualities in five functional, visual, social, perceptual, and environmental components, based on Delphi technique in two stages of interview and questionnaire (i.e. open-ended and close-ended), which are analyzed through Student's t, and Friedman tests in Spss 22 statistics. Results indicate that Ferdowsi Street does not have the desired environmental quality in any of the 5 components and their indicators. In the following, after examining the environmental status of the case study, have been tried to propose some policies and strategies to revive the unfavorable situation of the Ferdowsi Street, based on theoretical framework of research and suggestions of experts and also considering the existing deficiencies. In actuality, the ultimate purpose is about suggesting some recommendations that can be effective in removing the current drawbacks of Ferdowsi Street and also in enhancing the environmental qualities in 5 mentioned components.
