Providing a Model of Mental Health Based on Positive Psychological factors

Abstract:

University professors, whose task is to extend knowledge and whom students hold as an example, have their, effect on the youth. Therefore, attending to the health of can have a crucial role in pursuing the goals of society and achieving prosperity and collective perfection. The purpose of this study is to provide a model of mental health based on the positive psychological factors considered by the professors of Rasht Islamic Azad university for the academic year 2014- 2015. The statistical sample consists of 150 people selected from among the statistical universe of the survey. The research instruments include Drogatis, Lipman & Korey’s questionnaire on mental health, Palotzin and Ellisons’ questionnaire on spiritual well-being, Schneider Hope Scale, Milk Optimism Test, Carver, and Barton Hardiness Questionnaire. The method of structural equations and LISREL software 8.18 was used for analyzing the data. The results show that mental health can be explained through positive psychological factors including spiritual well-being, hope, and commitment.
