The relationship between attachment styles and self-control with high-risk behaviors among female students’ high schools of Tehran city
The purpose of this study was to relationship between attachment styles and self-control with high-risk behaviors among female students’ high schools of Tehran city.The descriptive-correlation method was used. The statistical population consists of all the female students’ high school east of city in year academic 2017-2018 to 82099 female students. In this study, according toCochran formula, 382 female students were selected as samples. Multistage sampling method was used in this research and they were asked to fill in the high-risk behavior scale of Niazi, Abbaszadeh and Saadati (2017), adult attachment scaleCollins & Read (1990) and self‐control scale of Tangney, Baumeister and Boone (2004). The data were analyzed by tests of Pearson correlation and multivariate regression by enter method. Findings showed that there was significant correlation between early maladaptive schemas with critical thinking(P<0/01). There was a negative and significant correlation between difficulties in emotion regulation with critical thinking(P<0/01). There was a positive and significant correlation between attachment styles and self-control with high-risk behaviors (P<0/01). Regression analyses also revealed that 70% of variance of high-risk behaviors was explained byattachment styles and self-control. Based on the results of the present study on the predictive power of attachment styles and self-control in high-risk behaviors in adolescent girls in order to prevent high risk behaviors among adolescent girls, it is recommended to conductinterventional research projects to train parents on the problematic areas.
