Abstract:
Present study illustrates the importance of simulated 3D finite element in order to calculate the flexible pavement response with viscoelastic behavior under moving load and different tempratures. 3D finite element was simulated by Abaqus software. In the simulated model, regarding to load speed, moving load was applied using separated load in sequential nodes in the path direction. In order to simulate the silent boundaries, the outer boundaries were meshed through infinite elements. Viscoelastic behavior of asphalt layer was defined by generalized Maxwell model with Prony series. Firstly, in this study, the accuracy of simulated model in Abaqus was verified using the paper of Chen and et al. that studied a layered viscoelastic pavement using analytical approach and then flexible pavement response was studied under different moving vehicle speed and different temperature. The results show that the pavement response increases with increasing the temperature and with decreasing the speed.
