Effectiveness of Group Happiness Training in The Improvement of Coping Strategies in Drug Abuse Patients
This study was carried out to determine the effectiveness of group happiness training in the improvement of coping strategies in drug abuse patients. In a quasi-experimental study with pre- test and post-test, the number of 30 drug abuse patients referring to a Self-introduction welfare center in Shiraz who they had successfully completed the detoxification period were selected by available sampling and divided into two experimental (n=15) groups and control (n=15) randomly and in the pre-test and post- test, all the participants completed the coping strategies questionnaire (Carver & et al, 1989). After, the experimental group received 10 sessions of 90 minutes of group happiness training and control group not received intervention. Data analysis was done by SPSS-21 software and were using analysis of variance test. The results indicated a significant increase in the coping strategies scores for the experimental group in comparison to the control group in the post-test. Therefore, group happiness training is very influential in the boost of coping strategies in drug abuse patients.
