Abstract:

Loneliness is a concept that has long occupied the minds of people in a society, the word loneliness has different meanings and is defined in different contexts including the relationship of different realms and segments of the individual with each other, the relationship of the individual with another individual, and finally the relationship of the individual with the existence of the environment. Therefore, since human beings have always been exposed to the threat of worrisome and apprehensive factors, so they have sometimes taken refuge in loneliness to maintain their lost security. In the different periods of the work of various artists, this presentiment of contemporary mankind against loneliness and death has had a clear impact on the expression and creation of their works. Therefore, during the outbreak of diseases or natural disasters and even war, the collection of artists, including artists in the fields of painting and sculpture, have created works that are the manifestations of loneliness, silence, and amorphousness in the world. Among these artists, the Polish artist Magdalena Abakanowicz created works to show this loneliness caused by the absence of the psychological security of the members of the society during World War II. This sculptor created headless human characters in a still and standing or sitting position, in a collective form and being distanced from each other, which is a manifestation of a harmed and lonely human being. Now the question that arises is:What was the purpose of creating such works? And which political, social and/or economic mainstreams has the artist been influenced by? During the research, these questions are answered and the amorphousness and loneliness of the contemporary mankind during the post-coronavirus period have been assumed similar to that of the post-war era of the artist under research, and during the research, the works of the artist have been introduced and analyzed. This research was carried out by a descriptive-analytical method; and the analytical community was the primary and secondary information sources related to the subject, which was analyzed.
