validity and reliability of the latest version of the RationalExperiential Inventory

The purpose of this study was founding of validity and reliability of the latest version of the Rational-Experiential Inventory in persion. Five hundred and sixty students (male & female) at the Islamic Azad University & Sama University in Roudehen in 1394-95 that were selected randomly via multi-period method, collected the RationalExperiential Inventory. In order to examin the validity of the RationalExperiential Inventory, used Five Big Factors and Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations Inventory for Strssfull Situations. For the data analysis used Exploratory factor analysis with Warimax rotation and elicitated three factors from the Rational-Experiential Inventory named Rational Engagement, Experiential Ability, and Rational Ability. Its reliability that achieved by internal consistency method was 0.719, 0.707, and 0.663 sequential. Ricognized that this inventory has enough validity and reliability for assesing the amount of usage rational-analytical via experientialintuitional thinkingstyle in the Iranian University students. Being the relationship between e RationalExperiential Inventory and Five Big Factors and Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations Inventory showed that the Rational Engagement factor had negative relationship with the Neurotism and Emotion - oriented coping, and had positive relationship with the Extraversion, Openness, Agreeableness, Conciontiousness and Task- oriented coping.The Rational Ability factor had negative relationship with the Neurotism and Emotion - oriented coping, and had positive relationship with the Extraversion, Openness, Agreeableness, Conciontiousness and Task- oriented coping, and had no relationship with the Extraversion. The Experiential Ability had no relationship with the Five Big Factors and Coping Stressful Situations. The three factors had no relationship with the Avoidance - oriented coping. The Rational Ability and had no relationship with the Experiential Ability, but had positive relationship with the Rational Engagement. The Experiential Ability had no relationship with the Rational Engagement too; and this means that the two thinking styles are independent.
