Investigating some of the Quranic and Narrative Evidences of Believers to Sahw Al-nabi
The scholars of the Islamic sects disagree on the scope of the Prophet's infallibility. One of the theological issues concerning the infallibility of prophets is that whether they are infallible in all affairs of life spiritually or materially or like other people they sometimes make mistakes? In this regard, Islamic scholars fall into three categories: 1. All Sunni scholars agree with Sahw al-Nabi, based on numerous verses and narratives; 2. Some of Shiite scholars agree with Sahw al-Nabi and refer to those hadiths which are found in Shiite and Sunni sources concerning the holy prophet’s prayer; 3. The majority of Shia scholars are opposed to the negligence of the Prophet. In this study documents of verse 68 of the Surah Anaam and verse 42 of the Surah Yusuf, and the narratives related to neglect in holy prophet’s prayer (p.b.u.h) are discussed. The results of the study show that the Quranic evidences have no Implying to the negligence of the Prophet. The narratives quoted in Shiite sources, because of their inconsistency with the rational and narrative arguments have not been the main purpose of their apparent content and have been quoted from the Taqiyya (Hiding the original idea). Sunni narratives also face many content problems. Therefore, these narrations cannot be proved the negligence of the Prophet.
