The Problem of the Normativeness of Logic (a Critical Approach to the Idea of the Normativeness of Logic for Thinking)
Logicians pursue different goals from normativeness of logic. Sometimes normativeness of logic means normative in reasoning, sometimes normativeness in public performance and sometimes normativeness in thinking. In contemporary works, the "problem of normativeness of logic" has been used with different applications. Evaluating logical systems in the philosophy of logic, normativeness of logic as an evidence to refute the view of the pluralism of logic and normativeness of logic meaning the role of logic in accepting and reviewing a belief is one of the most important applications of the "problem of the normativeness of logic". Nowadays, the normativeness of logic for thinking and its role in accepting belief and reviewing it has been criticized by some logicians. In their works, a number of critics have discussed the difference between a rational norm and an epistemological norm, and some have dealt with how epistemological norms are required. In this paper, while discussing the intention of logicians from the logical norm and its application, the normality of logic for thinking is discussed. The findings show that, not only does logical reasoning not support the normality of logic for thinking, rather, it cannot be claimed that rational norms in fact compel one to follow oneself.
