Identification and classification of factors influencing the outsourcing of product research and development projects with complex systems

Context/Purpose:

 Organizations that compete seriously in global markets, invest in R&D projects in order to maintain superiority and outsourcing these projects with complex systems. This study aimed to identify and classify the factors influencing the outsourcing of product research and development projects with complex systems in Islamic Republic of Iran Navy.

The present article is an applied study in terms of the purpose of the study and its method is a combination of quantitative and qualitative types (a mixed method).Qualitative data are collected using textual content analysis and based on the opinions of 15 experts in Islamic Republic of Iran Navy. On the other hand, quantitative data are collected based on the opinions of 205 employees and senior managers of the organization. Also, Delphi technique is applied to screen the obtained indexes and exploratory factor analysis test and SPSS software are used to classify the indexes.

The factors influencing the outsourcing of product research and development projects with complex systems in Islamic Republic of Iran Navy are: structural factors, strategic factors, financial factors and supplier management.

The results of the present study that is obtained through the opinions of the employees and senior managers of Islamic Republic of Iran Navy can play an important role in outsourcing of research and development projects of products with complex systems.
