Geographic Analysis of The Results and Election Maps of The Tenth Parliamentary Election (Constituency: Birjand, Darmian and Khoosf)
Aims &
The geographic analysis of the election results and the drawing of its electoral maps is one of a variety of studies in the field of electoral geography, which describes the distribution of candidates 'and political parties' votes, showing their strengths and weaknesses and strong and shaky bases in different geographic regions. Therefore, the present paper presents the electoral maps of the tenth parliamentary elections in the Birjand, Darmian and Khoosf constituency, and a geographical analysis of the results and maps. The present study is based on the type and purpose of an applied research and is based on the nature and method of descriptive-analytical. The method of collecting materials is a combination of library, internet and statistical information collection from relevant references. The analysis of statistics and drawing of diagrams and maps have been used by Excel and Arc GIS software. The results and research findings confirmed the effect of the birthplace factor of the candidates on their vote outcomes. Of course, this factor was more severe in Khoosf's sub- Constituency than in the other two counties, and had a great impact on the outcome of the election. Three main rivals have had relatively close competition in the center of the constituency (Birjand). The success of the principled and elected candidate has been greater in the western regions of the constituency, the rural areas and most of the mobile ballot boxes. In the eastern regions of the constituency, cities and most of the fixed ballot boxes and Sunni settlements, independent and reformist candidates have been more successful in gaining votes. The results of the ballot boxes at training places tended to be more toward independent and reformist candidates and the results of ballot boxes that were located in religious and military places tended to be more towards principled candidate.
