The relationship between perceived social support and coping strategies and relapse of drug addiction

Drug dependence include several factors that may simultaneously exist or follow each other on an individual. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between perceived social support and coping strategies of addiction and relapse. The study sample included smokers quit in the spring city. 130 people are using this drug in the sample were selected. Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support Measurement Tools Zimet and collegues Folkman and Lazarus coping strategies questionnaire and were interviewed. Methodology, correlational and predictability. For data analysis, descriptive statistics including measures of central tendency and dispersion were used to test hypotheses and inferential statistics such as Pearson correlation and regression analysis. Regression analysis showed that social support is a weak predictor of relapse to addiction. The use of coping strategies are linked with addiction relapse if the drug addiction relapse is associated with a decrease in problem-oriented coping strategies. The results showed that the use of coping strategies and social support for drug users can be reviewed disease recurrence. The communicative teaching practices and appropriate coping strategies to prevent relapse of drug addiction and ultimately reduce the costs associated with it.
