Conceptual model to explain the application of knowledge management in policing Based on SWOT Matrix

This paper explains the use of the conceptual model of knowledge management in police affairs based on SWOT matrix. The cornerstone of strategic measures and performances is based on recognizing the organization's internal and external conditions .In order to be successful in its mission, the police must identify the influential external and internal factors. Thus, the external environment in the political, economic, social and technological conditions must be examined to determine the opportunities and the threats; and also the positive and negative points of the internal environment must be explored. Applying knowledge is the most important activity in the knowledge management cycle. In fact, if this phase is not done properly, all other activities will be fruitless. Hence, knowledge management is only successful when knowledge is used. The method used in this study is descriptive-analytic, and in order to collect data, the Internet, books and scientific articles in Persian and English, and also related theses were utilized. Finally, by analyzing the results, the conceptual model in applying knowledge management through three phases – initial discovery, and analyzing the information, developing knowledge, and improving the future – are examined.
