Impulsive Prediction Based on Attachment Styles and Perceived Stress in Secondary School Students
The purpose of this study was to predict impulsiveness based on attachment styles and perceived stress in second grade high school students in Mashhad in the academic year of 98-97.
The research method was descriptivecorrelation. The statistical population of this study was all second-grade students in which sample size was selected by multi-stage sampling of four high schools and based on the proposal of Topachen and Fidel (2007) with an estimated over 230 people. In order to collect information, Hazan and Shire (1987), Perceived Stress Questionnaire (1983) and Bart's impulsiveness questionnaire (1995) were used. After collecting data, descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis and SPSS software were used to analyze the data.
Findings indicated that: the regression coefficient between the two variables of perceived stress and impulsiveness showed that perceived stress positively predicts impulsiveness of 0.01 (p <0.01, β = 0.36). Also, the study of regression coefficients between two variables of attachment styles and impulsiveness showed that safe attachment style (P <0.01, β = 0.222) negatively predict the impulsiveness in the level of 0.01.Coclusion: The results of this study provide a better understanding of predictive factors of impulsiveness and it was found that perceived stress and attachment style are two important predictors of individuals' impulsive behaviors.
