Investigation of Physical Development of Tabriz City Based Urban Smart Growth Indicators Analysis (Case Study: Case Study: Area 1, 2 and 7)
With the rapid growth of cities due to urban sprawl caused by urban development, smart urban growth has become a city's urban development goals. This paper evaluates the physical development of Tabriz city based on urban smart growth indicators based on the collected data. The main question of the research is whether the application of urban smart growth indicators will be effective in the physical development of Tabriz areas? The method of this research is descriptive-analytical and it is survey in terms of purpose. TOPSIS and Shannon entropy models, Delphi technique and Likert technique were used for data analysis. The results showed that out of the three districts of Tabriz Municipality, District 2, 4 and 7, in Integrated Urban Smart Growth Index, District 2 had the best situation and District 7 had the worst situation. Therefore, low priority areas for future physical development planning in Tabriz should be considered and prioritized. Based on data analysis through Delphi technique, it was found that the best model of Tabriz's urban physical development is the centralized model model with the regional and neighborhood centered services and amenities. Also through Likert spectrum, the difference between the current and desirable status of physical development of Tabriz based on smart urban growth indices was compared to the existing status of physical development of Tabriz equal to (37/16) and physical development of Tabriz based on growth indices. Urban smart is in the ideal state (62/84). Which shows that applying smart urban growth indicators will be effective in physical development of Tabriz.
