Nursing Interventions Reducing of Burden of Care in Family Caregiver with Chronic Diseases: A Review of Iranian Studies
Family caregivers are the national and vital resource for care. They are hidden patients who are exposed to various diseases due to the hardships of caring for a family member. Nurses play an important role in supporting these people. This study aimed to review the nursing interventions in reducing of burden of care in family caregiver whom have the chronic diseases.
In this narrative review, data collection was carried out through PubMed, Science Direct, Scopus, Google Scholar, Magiran, Iranmedex, SID databases according to use Persian keywords such as Nursing interventions, Caregiver Burden, family caregivers, chronic diseases and their synonyms keywords. Range of time for researching all of the articles was between 2009 and 2019.Finally, 22 articles were entered in this study.
The results of twenty two clinical trials and quasi-experimental studies indicate a decrease in the level or average score of burden of care in family caregivers through the use of nursing interventions including using participatory-based nursing interventions in support groups, supportive educational program, behavioral-cognitive interventions, follow-up care model, mindfulness, web-based health information provision, implementation of a care plan, family empowerment intervention, peer-based education.
Discussion and Conclusion:
According to the results of the present study, using of various supportive, palliative and educational nursing’s interventions due to reducing the burden of care in caregivers of patients with chronic diseases; therefore, depending on the circumstance and nature of chronic illnesses and the tendency of their caregivers, the above methods or a combination of these methods can be used to reduce burden on caregivers.
