Abstract:
Adjectives and attributes are important tools to express meanings in any language and learners should inevitably learn how to use them professionally. Persian speakers at universities in Iran seem to have many problems with using adjectives and expressing descriptive sentences in Arabic. There are several reasons for problems with appropriate expression of adjectives in Arabic. For example, most of these problems are due to the native language assumptions and having a Persian mentality. Also, there are some certain features in source and target languages that create challenges for learners if they do not pay careful attention. Some structures are fixed and there is only one single expression for different concepts (e.g. finding equivalents for Persian prefixes or negative adjectives that can have different equivalents). Using digital dictionaries to find equivalents also plays a big role in this regard. This study focuses on these issues in detail.
