The correcting of some of the newly- found verses of Osman-e Mokhtati and introducing several couplets attributed to him

This article attempts to assess certain manuscripts that contain some of Osman-e Mokhtari’s verses unavailable to Ostad Homa’i. By benefiting from the manuscripts of the Tathkira-ye Botkhana and an anthology (jong) numbered 5976, kept at the Majlis Library, this writer intends to introduce and amend the newly found verses by Mokhtari. Besides the two above-mentioned sources, there are other verses ascribed to Mokhtari appearing in Eskandar Mirza’s Jong, Sa’d Allahi’s Jong, Majlis MS, No 1084, and Jahangiri Dictionary, Rashidi Dictionary, Majma’ al-Fors, Hedayat’s Anjoman-ārāy. Such verses have already been brought to public attention. Some of these verses, especially those in Eskandar Mirza’s and Sa’d Allahi’s Jongs, have nothing to do with Mokhtari but quite a number of the verses in the Botkhana Jong and the Majlis Jong attributed to Mokhtati, in all likelihood belong to him, although they are absent from Homa’i’s top-notch edition.
