Abstract:
National narratives have various versions some of which have disappeared leaving behind but some traces. Reflecting on such narratives and their various versions can help us to recognize the forgotten accounts. One of the figures in the national narratives about whom two sets of general accounts can be presented, is Fereydoun. In one set, Fereydoun is a benevolent sovereign. In the second set, of which only some traces have survived, Fereydoun, along with Jamshid and Kavus, have been counted among sacrilegious and ungrateful kings to God. The nature of his sin is not clear nor is the reason for the erasure of its accounts. In the present article, by considering the extant documents as to Fereydoun’s sin, we have tried to present some evidence regarding his sin, which demonstrates that Fereydoun, together with Jamshid and Kavus, have ascended to the sky. In the second part of the article, the reasons for erasing the accounts of Fereydoun’s have been briefly discussed.
