A survey of the examples of Fahlaviyāt in the poetry of the poets of Tabriz

The verses mostly written in the do beyti form (a form similar to quatrain) in the dialect of the western and northern regions of Iran are called Fahlaviyāt. Through history, in addition to Farsi as the accepted language all across Iranshahr or Greater Iran and composing poetry in this language, the local and regional languages have had their own literary activity. The present Azerbaijan is part of the regions in which the language of Azerbaijan has been prevalent in the past, the people of the region writing Fahlaviyāt while speaking the Pahlavi language of Azerbaijan.  This article aims at first presenting a definition of Fahlaviyāt and then introducing poets of Tabriz who have composed poetry in this language. To acquire a little understanding of the characteristics of this language, some of the Fahlavi verses are examined.
