Men’s Grooming and Its Effect on Improving Marital Relations from the Perspective of Islam

In religious sources, special attention has been paid to the outward and inward beauty and it has been discussed in the subject of the five obligatory rulings, the situational rulings, and also in the matter of morally oriented duties as the basis of human development. In family relationships, grooming and beautifying are about moral obligations, the commitment or non-commitment to it can lead to peace or disorder in the family. Today, excessive beauty is a social problem. Since Islam has the eternal glory and happiness for human beings in mind and it is considered higher level than material life, it has given many instructions about moral beauty as well as physical beauty by knowing the limits, being mindful of the limit can result in improving the relations between spouses and their good companionship. Men’s grooming in the narrations of the Infallibles has been expressed as the cause for women to hold on to their virtues. But this concept includes both their physical and moral beauty. In other words, just paying attention to appearance without considering moral standards will not lead to chastity and virtue of spouses. Grooming is considered as a practical solution of Islam against material and secular thinking in protecting the marital relationship. In a way that leads to the improvement of man's relationship with God. The softening of feminine feelings and creating the ground for love and affection are more important than the effects of grooming in improving the emotional and verbal relations of husbands. Also, men's grooming is effective in improving the physical and sexual relations with their wives and by keeping the mind away from the unconventional fantasies, it provides their spiritual health. Also neatness affects the economic relations of the spouses.
