Proioritizing the Necessity of Environmental Education in Schools (Case Study: Teachers of Ilam)
Environmental education is one of the important indicators for achieving sustainable development. The younger generation and students in the community are the basis for achieving sustainable development and protection of the environment. Therefore, environmental education in schools and especially in the primary period will lead to institutionalization of environmental protection culture. Revealing the necessities of this action are important to quickly and efficiently address this issue. In this connection, surveying the necessities of environmental education from the viewpoint of teachers is one of the most important pillars of environmental education in schools and can provide useful results for researchers. In this study, we focused on the prioritization of environmental education needs in schools, according to the viewpoint of elementary school teachers of the city of Ilam. The results of Friedman's test showed that the most important requirement of environmental education in schools is the future environmental problems of students that will be more than the current situation. In addition, the result of Mann-Whitney test showed that there were no significant differences between male and female teachers (P>0.05).
