Abstract:
Background and Objectives

Suicide is one of the health problems and social harms. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the causes of suicide in patients referred to the emergency Department of Ali Ibn Abi Talib Hospital in Rafsanjan in 2019.

Materials and Methods

The method of this study is descriptive. The statistical population of the study was 339 suicide bombers in Rafsanjan city in Kerman province. Data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire. The software used was SPSS version 22.

Results

Most of the people who attempted suicide (59.3%) were women. Out of the total number of suicide attempts, 6 cases (1.8%) were successful. In terms of suicide method, most cases belonged to drugs (77%).

Conclusion

Suicide attempt was higher in youth, women and people with low level of education and low-income and unemployed people than other groups. Preventive measures should be predicted and implemented by experts for these groups.
