The Structural Components of Perseverance according to Islamic Sources: Developing a Conceptual Model

This study was conducted with the aim of developing a conceptual model of perseverance based on Islamic sources (Quran and Hadith). In order to analyze the conceptual model of perseverance, this study makes us of descriptive-explanatory sentences drawn from Islamic sources and content and uses a semantic method to explain the conceptual structure of perseverance. For this purpose, the descriptive-explanatory sentences relating to perseverance found in Islamic texts were searched and selected on the basis of the words and concepts which were collected in this regard. In order to determine the conceptual components, the main themes of the selected texts were categorized and conceptualized. The enquiry about the content validity of the extracted components based on the opinions of 15 experts confirms that the minimum of CVR value of each component is 0.49 and above, and the CVI index of the components 0.79 and above. The findings show that, according to Islamic sources, the conceptual structure of steadfastness is based on seven main components, including divine purposefulness, determination, certainty, adherence to values, perseverance, seriousness in action and patience.
