Dating the Traditions of Prohibition of Building a Mosque on Graves

There are traditions narrated from the Holy Prophet (PBUH) with the content of forbidding the construction of a mosque on graves, these traditions deal with the etymology of this practice and returns it to the tribes and followers of the previous religions. These traditions have several writings; based on textual and documentary similarities, they can be divided into six categories: 1- Traditions of Aisha, 2- Traditions of Aisha and Ibn Abbas, 3- Traditions of Ibn Abbas, 4- Traditions of Abu Hurairah, 5- Traditions of ibn Masud, and 6- Traditions of Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah. The present article has dated these traditions using text-document analysis method. The present study has concluded that the main form of news was prevalent in the first half of the first century, which means forbidding the construction of a mosque on graves as an ethnic feature and condemning this act. However, it can be said that some of the writings that make this practice a religious feature and curse Jews and Christians were created in the first half of the first century. It coincides with the expulsion of the Jews from the Arabian Peninsula and the unification of the region's religion. The development of recent writings has definitely increased over time compared to the mainstream news, and even in later writings we see its political use.
