Employee relationships at universities are a set of frameworks, policies, and methods that can lead to the effectiveness and efficiency of human resources. Considering the importance of the employee relationships system at universities, we in the present study aims to identify the components of the employee relationships system based on knowledge-based organizational structures at medical universities.
This is a qualitative study with a phenomenological research strategy. The population we recruited for this study was professors of health services management, presidents of universities of medical sciences in the 9th district of Amayesh, and professors of Public Management Department at Islamic Azad University, Birjand Branch. We used semi-structured interviews to collect data. Also, we conducted interviews through content analysis (open and axial coding).
According to the results of this study, we were able to identify eight main themes that are as follows: Relationships based on trust, informal and organic relationships, relationships based on transparency, relationships based on knowledge and expertise development, cooperation between organizational, goal-based relationships, ethical charter relationships, team relationships.
According to the results, we can make the claim that proper relationships among employees at universities are a prerequisite toward the improvement of knowledge management, which further leads to increased efficiency, motivation, and efficiency of employees at the university. In order to create a knowledge-based organizational structure, policymakers should pay more attention to these factors in employee relationships.
