Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to predict suicidal ideation based on self-awareness and self-esteem. The method of this research is descriptive correlation and regression analysis. The statistical population of this study included male and female students of one of the universities of Birjand in 1399-1397.
The sample of this study was 375 people who were selected by available sampling method. Measurement tools were God-awareness scales (Noor Alizadeh, 2011), suicidal ideation (Beck, 1961) and self-esteem (Cooper Smith, 1957).
Findings showed that there is a significant negative relationship between self-awareness and self-esteem and suicidal ideation. The findings also show that the rate of suicidal ideation, self-esteem and self-awareness is higher among women than men, and this figure was much higher among single people than married people. Based on the findings, it is predicted that by promoting self-awareness and self-respect, it is possible to increase the mental health of individuals and prevent and counteract the formation of suicidal ideation. It is suggested that in future research, God-awareness package be applied to a group of people vulnerable to suicidal ideation and its effectiveness on reducing suicidal ideation be evaluated.
