Identifying and comparing the knowledge and interest of students to the ancient and contemporary mythology

Abstract:

This study aims to identify and compare the knowledge and interest of young people to the ancient and contemporary mythology as well as national and local figures of holy defense.  The sample of the study is chosen by multi-stage cluster sampling among school children of District 2 of Tabriz. The sample size of 364 patients was determined according to Morgan table. In order to prevent loss of inventory, the number of 435 questionnaires were distributed among subjects and after removal of incomplete questionnaires, 365 questionnaires were examined. The method of collecting data is field and through a questionnaire the level of familiarity with mythology is measured and by a standard questionnaire (piety questionnaire) of Clock and Stark religiosity is measured. The results showed that, there is a significant difference between ancient and contemporary mythology with national and local holy defense figures. Also, there is a significant relationship between students’ religious affiliation and their familiarity with each of the mythology and holy defense figures.
