Comparison of cognitive functions of parents of substance-induced psychosis patients with parents of healthy individuals
The purpose of the present study was to compare the cognitive functions of parents of substance-induced psychosis patients with the parents of healthy individuals.
The post-event method (causal-comparative method) was used. The statistical population of this study is all parents in Tehran province who are divided into two parts; parents who have children who have been diagnosed with substance-related psychosis They go to Tehran's Razi Hospital for follow-up sessions for their child's treatment and parents who have had a healthy child.70 individuals were selected using purposive sampling method and standardized NEO personality questionnaires were used for data collection. One-sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used for data analysis in order to investigate the normality of observational distribution of research variables and Independent groups t-test was used to investigate the differences between the research variables between parents of substance abuse patients and parents of healthy individuals. Finally, statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software.
The results showed that with a 95%probability the mean cognitive function of parents with psychosis is completely different from that of healthy individuals.
According to the results of this study, intervention methods can be used to change personality traits to prevent drug-induced psychosis.
