Abstract:

The purpose of the present study is to investigate the relationship between moral intelligence and assertiveness with stress in women of religious congregations in Tehran. The present study has a practical purpose and has been conducted using descriptive-correlation method. The statistical samples of this study are 195 women of religious congregations in Tehran in 1399, which were selected using Morgan table and available sampling method. Data collection instruments include: the Moral Intelligence Questionnaire, a 40-question questionnaire developed by Lenik and Kiel and Jordan to measure moral intelligence; a 22-item inventory developed by Gmbryl & Ritchie to measure assertiveness; and a 14-question Stress Scale questionnaire developed by Everly Giordano to measure stress, all three of which are standard, reliable and valid. SPSS software was used to do data analysis utilizing Windows. The results suggest that moral intelligence has a negative and significant relationship with stress, while assertiveness has a positive and significant relationship with stress. Also, there is a negative and significant relationship between the components of moral intelligence and the dimensions of stress, and there is a positive and significant relationship between the components of assertiveness and the dimensions of stress. Among the components of moral intelligence, accountability for personal decisions has a negative and significant relationship with the dimensions of stress and has the capacity for predicting stress, but other components of moral intelligence did not contribute to stress prediction. Among the components of assertiveness, expressing positive emotions has the greatest capacity to predict stress. After that, the component of coping with and accepting criticism has the capacity to predict stress, but other components did not contribute to stress prediction. These components have a positive and significant relationship with the dimensions of stress.
