Predicting Sport Commitment of Young Athletes Based on Parenting Styles of Parents
Present study was designed by aim of predicting sport commitment of young athletes based on parenting styles of parents. 241 of 497 young athletes of Langeroud city who participated three times a week in six sports were randomly selected as statistical samples using Morgan's Table and they responded to questionnaires of sport commitment and parenting styles. The results of enter multiple regression analysis showed that father's parenting styles of authoritative and authoritarian had positive and significant effects on young's commitment, enjoy and participation, but father and mother's parenting style of permissive had negative and significant relationship with young's enjoy and participation. Additionally, mothers like fathers played a positive and significant role on commitment dimensions using authoritative parenting styles more than authoritarian parenting styles. The findings has clearly shown that those parents who used the logical justification for parenting style had the most effects on their children. Hence, we suggest managers teach the parents to spend more time with their children by using words as this would lead the positive effects on sport attitudes of teenagers.
