The effect of installing intelligent transportation systems on reducing traffic casualties Case study of Shahrood – Sabzevar road

Increasing productivity using new and cost-reducing technologies is the base of nowadays world. In terms of road transport, improving safety issue is one of the most important issues. Various strategies for improving road safety is raised, each of them with advantages and disadvantages. One of the most effective options considered was use of intelligent transport systems in order to increase road safety and reduce accidents. In this research it’s been tried to measure and compare the effect of installing intelligent systems and also the effect of proper Localization of those systems on road safety and reducing road causalities. This research based on an analytical method has tried to assess proper localization of intelligent transportation equipment in Shahrood – Sabzevar road in the Semnan province using recognizing and examining eventful sections and assessed current status of intelligent transportation systems according to technical measures and criteria using analytical method, and using GIS localization model the localization of installing intelligent transportation systems of Shahrood has achieved. Also, using analytical functions of multi-criteria model and the need assessment of eventful sections of the province using Google Earth, Arc GIS, RMG, and Map Source softwares optimized places to install mentioned systems has selected. for The results can also install a template for the submission of intelligent systems in all axes of the province, provide guidelines for the optimal use of intelligent systems.
