The Effect of Pilates Exercises On Urinary Incontinence In Women With Multiple Sclerosis, MS Society of Tehran
MS is an autoimmune disease, occurs as a nerve injury. 70-90% of patients suffer from urinary disorders. Regarding the high prevalence of urinary incontinence in these subjects, The purpose of present quisy-experimental study was to determine the effect of pilates exercises on UI in women with MS in Society of Tehran. Twenty-two subjects with EDSS≤5 were randomly divided into experimental and control groups. The incidence of UI was measured by the ICIQ-UI SF questionnaire. There were significant differences in comparison of UI score in women with MS in experimental group before(14.55) and after(4.55) 8 weeks pilates training(t-test = 0.00). This means pilates have had an impact on the UI score in these patients. 50 The results of the study showed that pilates can reduce frequency, urine leakage and incontinence impact on quality of life in women with MS. Therefore, it is recommended for these patients as a non-pharmacological complementary intervention.
