The effect of Pilates exercises on coordination in women with multiple sclerosis, MS Society of Tehran
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Pilates exercises on the coordination of multiple sclerosis patients (25 to 50 years). The research was semi-experimental with pre-test and post-test design. The statistical sample was 17 patients with MS (EDSS≤5.5). They were randomly divided into experimental (n = 9) and control (n = 8) groups. The coordinating factor was measured by "moving pattern along the wall" and "drawing the figure 8" tests. The experimental group received Pilates training for 8 weeks for 3 sessions a week. SPSS.20 software was used to analyze the data (α<0.05). The results indicated that Pilates exercises had an effect on the coordination of women with MS (P = 0.01) and average time of motion pattern along the wall (P = 0.01) and significant changes were observed, but the mean time of "8 test" is not significant (P = 0.14).
