Assessing the impact of crime on quality of life in urban public spaces (Case study: Tehran)
The rapid growth of cities in modern life can cause problems such as increasing crime and reducing security in cities. This directly affects the quality of life of citizens, which has adverse consequences on the physical and mental health of citizens. Assessing the quality of life in Tehran based on the relationship between quality of life components and crime can lead to the discovery of effective solutions to improve the quality of life in Tehran.
The present study is applied in terms of research purpose and inferential in terms of research method. Also, the analysis of this research has been done with a correlation test. The correlation between the two variables, the structural components of quality of life in the protected area of police stations and their major crimes, has been analyzed based on organizational statistical data. For this purpose, 28 police stations have been randomly and sparsely selected in the city of Tehran as the statistical population.
Based on the performed analyzes, the correlation or effect of quality of life indicators such as the amount and type of uses, services, urban and green space in Tehran on the rate of all crimes or some (most common) crimes has been obtained. Then, by recognizing the relationship and the degree of effectiveness of each of the quality of life indicators with different crimes, an organized structure was obtained.
Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the amount of green space in urban environments is one of the most important factors in controlling crime and increasing the quality of life and it is necessary to increase it.
