Effect of aerobic training on insulin resistance, lipid profile, body composition, and physical fitness in obese Guilan policemen
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of aerobic training on insulin resistance, lipid profile, body composition, and physical fitness in overweight policemen of Guilan province. The samples included 40 Guilan policemen with a mean age of 29.8 ± 6.3, weight of 87.42 ± 6.2, and BMI of 28.55 ± 4.4. The subjects were divided into aerobic (1) and control (2) groups. The aerobic exercise program was performed for 8 weeks and three days per week. All variables were measured before performing the aerobic exercise program, and after the program was complete, testing was carried out again for all variables. In order to assess the impact of the program, the results obtained after the implementation of the training program were compared with the control group. Statistical analysis using t-test indicated that after eight weeks of aerobic activity the results were significantly different for all variables except velocity changes, compared to the control group. According to the results, eight weeks of aerobic exercise had positive effects on lipid profile and insulin resistance as factors of fitness and endurance.
