Abstract:

Comparative Study of the Interpreters’ Ideas about the Interpretation of “Unẓur Kayfa Kadhabū ʿAlā Anfusihim”(Q. 6:24)  and “va Innahum la Kaẓebūn”(Q. 6:28) Based on the Relationship of Verses  Abstract: There is a difference of opinion among Quranic interpreters regarding the possibility or impossibility of lying on the Judgment Day which has been posited in the verses 24 and 28 of Chapter 6, Sūrat l-anʿām. Their opinions can be divided into three main categories. Investigating these notions and considering the relationship between the verses, the present research paper shows that lying is possible on the Judgment Day and that, apart from the discussion of truth and falsity of the wishes of the polytheists as conceived by the interpreters and given the aforementioned verses and the words mentioned in previous and next verses, one can argue that the polytheists finally surrender and believe in God. Lie in this verse is related to this expression of belief by the polytheists.
