The Evaluation of a causal model of wisdom based on big five Factors of personality with the mediating role of basic psychological needs in university students
The aim of this study was to evaluate the causal model for wisdom based on the five factors of personality with the mediating role of psychological basic needs in students. the method of the present study was descriptive-correlational using a structural equation model. The statistical population of this study was undergraduate and graduate students of the academic year 2020-2021 in Golestan province. from this population, a sample of 356 male and female students was selected using stepwise cluster sampling.in order to collect data, the NEO Personality Traits Questionnaire (NEO-PI), the Guinea Psychological Basic Needs Scale, and Ardelt`s three-dimensional Wisdom Scale (3 D-WS) were used. Data were analyzed using the structural equation modeling (SEM) method and the LISREL software version (8.71). The results showed that in most of the fit indices, the structural model for wisdom has a suitable and acceptable fit. According to the research results, neuroticism was negatively correlated to wisdom(-0.58), extroversion(0.44), openness to experience(0.33), and psychological basic needs(0.49) positive significantly correlated with wisdom at the alpha level ( 0.01) and in total 41% of the variance of the wisdom is predicted and explained by these variables. Therefore, wisdom can be considered a personality trait.
