Abstract:

The political unity of Muslims has been one of the concerns of reformers, including Imam Khomeini. Because it increases the power and promotes the position of Muslims in the international system. On the other hand, according to the nation-state system governing the world, "national interests" are considered the guiding principles of states in international relations and it is pretended that the formation of a single Islamic nation is in conflict with the national interests of Islamic countries. The purpose of this study is to investigate the position of the single Islamic nation, national interests and the relationship between national interests and the formation of a single Islamic nation in Imam Khomeini's thought. The research findings show that the two concepts of a single Islamic nation and national interests are in addition to being deeply connected and related to each other. It also guarantees the protection of the national interests of Islamic countries.
