Using Information Technology to Improve the Urban Traffic Situation of Sari

Transport and urban traffic has been raised as a key and fundamental issues in urban and regional studies. Because it forms one of the fundamental role of urban living with linking most human affairs with each other and the flow of people, goods, energy and information. Nowadays Development of new concepts such as E-government and E-city Cause expand the usage of information technology in transportation and intelligent traffic management. Applying information technology in traffic management has many uses such as reducing accidents, reduction of emergency relief, increasing the capacity of roads, reduced travel time, reduced latency and etc. the randomly selected sample size is 200 and method of sampling was random clustering. The population composed of the three clusters police staff, transport authorities such as the acquirer and terminal staff and IT and traffic experts. In this article by using of questionnaires and field studies in Sari the study area has been pathologied and finally, based on statestical results of t-test, anova test and topsis methodology and theoretical results determined that the present situation was deteriorating and for overcoming of the current situation the use of intelligent transport management are efficient. Between the various indicators it was found that the expert and trained manpower and suitable communication equipment have the largest share to institutionalization of urban traffic management with using of information technology tools.
