Abstract:

Urartians ruled over the regions mainly around three lakes of Van, Sevan and Urmia. Also the people of Pars lived in south and south west of Lake Urmia. These powerful people had relations and conflicts and this is obvious in the inscriptions. Previously the relations and conflicts between Assyrians, Manenas, Mad and Urartians have been studied more. In two inscriptions from Karagunduz from Ishpuini and Minua, and also in the annals of Argishti, son of Minua, the conquest of Pars and even to put fire in Pars are mentioned. Therefore, the conflict of Pars and Urartu at the first half of Urartian reign is obvious. They call Pars as the country therefore, it proves Pars had its own independency and was the aim of the Urartians to conquer it. After Argishti’s reign Pars regained its power and the conquest of Urartians afterward is again mentioned in their inscriptions.
