The identity of Islamic Philosophy

The identity of Islamic philosophy in the two realms of possibility (imkan) and realization (tahaqquq) are the main questions in this research. With regard to the identity of Islamic philosophy two macro affirmative and negative perspectives are presented. The historical background of this issue goes back to Christine culture. However, maintaining the possibility of Islamic philosophy, the author explains and analyzes six approaches to the realization of Islamic philosophy. The identity of Islamic philosophy has been spelt out in light of religious philosophy, Islamic culture, civilization and orientation, revealed teachings, Quran and tradition (Hadith), creation (ibda) to prove the proponents’ position and the irrelevance and lack of identity of Islamic philosophy to serve as the negating cases.
