Religion and Philosophy in Vedism
Author(s):
Abstract:
A salient feature of Vedism (which later developed into Hinduism), as often noted by researchers, is the combination of philosophy and the religion in this faith. This feature is more evident in this religion's main sacred texts, generally known as scriptures of revelation (or Shrutis). The Vedas that form the main parts of Hindu's revealed scriptures or Shrutis are considered as the most ancient written documents of Indo-European races. In these writings, in addition to the Hinduism's earliest religious thoughts, the earliest seeds of Hindu's philosophical and mystical thoughts also can be found. However, in later periods they might have not resisted to evolutions and developments. Introducing these ancient literatures, the essay aims to review briefly the major thoughts of these set from the viewpoint of famous Hinduism experts
